Casino Royale

I watched Casino Royale, for the umpteenth time, again today. I have to say that this is my favorite James Bond movie. Starting with the cast. Daniel Craig, who stars as James Bond, did a fantastic job and I like the new blond haired blue eyed version of 007. The leading Bond girl, played by Eva Green, was absolutely stunning, and played her role of Vesper Lynd most excellently.

I particularly like the premises of going back to the early James Bond, the beginnings of his character, and seeing from what he has evolved. With the scene about the martini being shaken or stirred, and the response, Does it look like I give a damn. This is pre-classic Bond. The movie also goes on to answer why Bond portrays women the way he does, and at leasts offers that Bond had the capacity to love. This confirming the idea of the classic plot of choosing between love and being a hero, and how the two are not compatible. Well, at least the love making seams to be compatible, if not required.

I should also mention that I have noticed the product placement, and it is always a fun topic to discuss. I personally don't mind the product placement in this movie. It is James Bond, and part of 007 is his gadgets and cars. There where many types of cars in the film. However, there was only one major brand of gadgets through out, and that was Sony. This seemed to distract me a bit. I am actually a fan of many of Sony's products, but I do not think that they have a hold on the best of the best gadgets market. Like many people expect Bond to be driving the coolest car. I expect to see the coolest gadgets. (On a side note, I sure hope that he isn't touting around an iPhone in the next movie) That said, I wanted to brag that I have the same laptop that Mr. Bond himself was using during the movie! And that was really what made me start today's blog.
